Level One Stand-Up

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Mondays, 7-10PM
May 12 th to July 7th, 2025
There’s nothing more exhilarating, exciting, and confidence boosting than performing stand up comedy! It can be intimidating, sure, but with the right guidance and instruction, it’s something that anyone can do. This goal-oriented course will get you up onstage doing stand up for the first time with confidence, joy, and an itch to keep coming back for more! You will emerge from this class with disciplined writing tools, informative personal feedback and important advice, and a solid 5-7 minute set that you’ll be eager to share with the world.
This class is eight weekly sessions running from May 12th to July 7th 2025. The instructor is Emily Grefer.

Level Two Long Form

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Mondays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm

Prerequisite: Level One Long Form Improv
You did it! You finished level one and now it’s time to keep up the momentum of your Improv journey! In Level Two, you’ll focus on editing your own scenes by ‘following the foot’ connected to your gut and heart to edit scenes at the height of their hilarity. Learn all about the concepts of ‘game’ and how to heighten and tighten a scene organically and confidently. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover peas in a pod vs voice of reason dynamics within your scene work and even begin the process of extracting inspiration and ideas from personal anecdotes. Don’t delay, say “Yes and!” to following the fun now!

Level One Sketch

8-Week Course
Wednesdays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
May 14th – July 2nd, 2025
You’re a funny person, now it’s time to get your funny ideas on paper! In Level One Sketch, you’ll learn the basics of sketch writing and develop a variety of skills to produce sketches of your own. Each week your instructor will teach you a different style of sketch through lectures, examples, and exercises created to help you master that specific style. Over the course of eight weeks, you will generate premises, write sketches, do table reads, get feedback, and transform into a real comedy writer just like those who write for SNL, Key & Peele, The Iliza Show, and more! You’ll leave class with the beginning of a comedy portfolio you can be proud of!

Level One Storytelling
with Daniel Sturdivant

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Thursdays, 7:00-9:00pm
May 22nd to July 17th, 2025
No one has a story like yours. No one has experienced this life the way you have. So why not bring your story to life in a way you’ve never imagined before? The art of storytelling is not only a therapeutic experience for yourself, but for those who need to hear it. In this course you’ll learn how to create a clear arc in telling your story, how to emote, and how to keep your audience completely captivated. You will explore popular storytelling modes including TedX and The Moth. You’ll receive focused feedback in a nurturing environment that will help boost your confidence and skills as a storyteller. This course will focus on giving you the tools and confidence you need to tell one story, your story, at your final graduation performance.
This class is eight weekly sessions running from May 22nd to July 17th 2025. This class will NOT run on Thursday, June 19th, for Juneteenth. The instructor is TBD.

May Improv 101

Second and Fourth Saturdays at 4:00pm
Not sure if you want to take an improv class? Start here! Our bimonthly Improv 101 class is designed for the student who wants to dip a toe into the wild world of improvised comedy.
Spots are limited, so please do not enroll in multiple dates. If you've participated in the past and had a great time consider enrolling in a class!
Intro to Improv takes place at 4:00pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. The class will be led by a qualified faculty member from the DCC Training Center. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate. Students age 15 and up may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. An RSVP is required.

Summer Camp: Session 1

Ages: 7 - 14
5-day Day Camp
Monday, June 2nd – Friday, June 6th
9:00am – 3:00pm (Early drop-off available for an additional fee)
Final Performance: 6/6 at 3:00pm
This camp introduces kids to the art of improv and being in a theatrical environment. Students will be led through dozens of fun improv games designed to help them connect to their peers and their own innate sense of creativity. Students develop communication skills through physical and verbal expression while learning to be good ensemble members through active listening and collaboration.
STUDENT SHOWCASE:
Friday, June 6th – 3:00-4:00pm
Students will show off their skills in their final Showcase Performance on one of Dallas Comedy Club’s stages! Parents and loved ones are welcome to attend the class performance at 3:00pm on the last day of camp. There will be plenty of great photo ops so be sure to bring your camera.
OTHER INFORMATION
- Students should bring a sack lunch each day. DCC will provide unlimited access to filtered water. Please alert camp staff to all food allergies.
- The drop-off window is from 8:30-9:00am. Early drop-off begins at 7:30am and is available all week for an additional $100 per student.
- Students will be divided into two groups based on age and ability.
Level One Long Form

Dive into the joy of improvisation! Learn the power of “Yes, and…” in a world that loves to focus on “No, but…” Focus on positive choices, discover the truthful and wonderful characters that live inside each of us, and most importantly: learn to trust that YOU are enough. With the most hours offered in the metroplex, this beginner course will give you the strong foundation you need to confidently take the stage at any improv jam in town! By the end of the class, students will be able to perform hilarious 5 minute improvised scenes with their classmates. Be more confident, follow your instincts, and find the fun in every bit of life.
