Level Two Stand-Up

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Tuesdays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
July 22nd – September 9th, 2025
Prerequisite: Level One Stand-Up
You wrote and performed a five minute set in front of a live audience! You rock! Whether you’re doing open mics, booking shows, or even submitting for festivals, it is imperative to have a well developed set that can be delivered with confidence and ease. Students will receive personalized feedback with a focus on stage presence, storytelling, and joke set up. This class focuses on advanced topics including crowd work, hecklers, marketing yourself, and more! Students will emerge from this class feeling confident and ready to take on bigger shows.
This class is eight weekly sessions running from July 22nd, 2025 to September 9th 2025. The instructor is TBD. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable. All students must adhere to policies in the Dallas Comedy Club Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate.

Level One Stand-Up

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show

There’s nothing more exhilarating, exciting, and confidence boosting than performing stand up comedy! It can be intimidating, sure, but with the right guidance and instruction, it’s something that anyone can do. This goal-oriented course will get you up onstage doing stand up for the first time with confidence, joy, and an itch to keep coming back for more! You will emerge from this class with disciplined writing tools, informative personal feedback and important advice, and a solid 5-7 minute set that you’ll be eager to share with the world.

Level Two Sketch

8-Week Course
Wednesdays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
July 23rd – September 10th, 2025
You’ve started your sketch packet, now let’s make it stronger! This class is an intermediate sketch writing course that will explore more complex styles of sketch writing. Students will learn how to better craft sketches, pitch their ideas with confidence, and expand their writing portfolio. This class also dives into the editing and rewriting process in more depth than our intro level. By the end of the class students will have a solid body of work that can be submitted for shows at DCC and beyond!

Level One Sketch

8-Week Course
Thursdays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
July 24th– September 11th, 2025
You’re a funny person, now it’s time to get your funny ideas on paper! In Intro to Sketch, you’ll learn the basics of sketch writing and develop a variety of skills to produce sketches of your own. Each week your instructor will teach you a different style of sketch through lectures, examples, and exercises created to help you master that specific style. Over the course of eight weeks, you will generate premises, write sketches, do table reads, get feedback, and transform into a real comedy writer just like those who write for SNL, Key & Peele, The Iliza Show, and more! You’ll leave class with the beginning of a comedy portfolio you can be proud of!

Level One Short Form

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Saturdays, 1:00pm-4:00pm
July 26th – September 20th, 2025
Whose line? Your line! In this class you will learn the quick-fire skills needed to take the “Yes, and” into Short Form Improv! You will exercise skills such as listening, justification, and physicality to heighten the healthy competition that Short Form games are all about. This class explores different genres of Short Form games and the underlying concepts that make them successful and fun for performers and audiences alike. Over the course of eight weeks you will form a team with your classmates. The class culminates with a final grad performance in which you will delight your family and friends with your newfound skills!

Level Two Long Form

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Saturdays, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
July 26th – September 20th, 2025
Prerequisite: Level One Long Form Improv
You did it! You finished level one and now it’s time to keep up the momentum of your Improv journey! In Level Two, you’ll focus on editing your own scenes by ‘following the foot’ connected to your gut and heart to edit scenes at the height of their hilarity. Learn all about the concepts of ‘game’ and how to heighten and tighten a scene organically and confidently. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover peas in a pod vs voice of reason dynamics within your scene work and even begin the process of extracting inspiration and ideas from personal anecdotes. Don’t delay, say “Yes and!” to following the fun now!

July Improv 101

Second and Fourth Saturdays at 4:00pm
Not sure if you want to take an improv class? Start here! Our bimonthly Improv 101 class is designed for the student who wants to dip a toe into the wild world of improvised comedy.
Spots are limited, so please do not enroll in multiple dates. If you've participated in the past and had a great time consider enrolling in a class!
Intro to Improv takes place at 4:00pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. The class will be led by a qualified faculty member from the DCC Training Center. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate. Students age 15 and up may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. An RSVP is required.
Level Four Long Form
8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Saturdays, 4:00-7:00pm
July 26th – September 20th, 2025
Prerequisite: Level Three Long Form Improv + Accepted Application
You’ve learned the rules and tools of improv, so let’s get back to play and put them all together in fun new ways! Level Four Long Form takes the foundation formed in beginner and intermediate levels and builds upon it with fun new forms and structures. Students work toward mastering the Harold as the main form used in the course, which allows performers to give their sets a sitcom-like structure where scenes and beats are revisited to the delight of the audience. Instructor feedback focuses on individualized performance notes designed to call out students’ unique strengths while working to get rid of bad habits. By the end of the class, students become skillful performers who have the skills needed to perform in any show that comes their way!
