Level One Stand-Up

There’s nothing more exhilarating, exciting, and confidence boosting than performing stand up comedy! It can be intimidating, sure, but with the right guidance and instruction, it’s something that anyone can do. This goal-oriented course will get you up onstage doing stand up for the first time with confidence, joy, and an itch to keep coming back for more! You will emerge from this class with disciplined writing tools, informative personal feedback and important advice, and a solid 5-7 minute set that you’ll be eager to share with the world.

This class is eight weekly sessions running from February 1st to March 22nd, 2026. The instructor is Mike Lukas.

CLASS DATES: SUNDAYS FROM 1-4PM, 2/1/26 – 3/22/26
GRAD SHOW DATE: SUNDAY, MARCH 29TH. TIME: 7:00PM.

Dive into the joy of improvisation! Learn the power of “Yes, and…” in a world that loves to focus on “No, but…” Focus on positive choices, discover the truthful and wonderful characters that live inside each of us, and most importantly: learn to trust that YOU are enough. With the most hours offered in the metroplex, this beginner course will give you the strong foundation you need to confidently take the stage at any improv jam in town! By the end of the class, students will be able to perform hilarious 5 minute improvised scenes with their classmates. Be more confident, follow your instincts, and find the fun in every bit of life.

This class is eight weekly sessions running from Febraury 7th, 2026 to March 28th, 2026. The instructor is Ryan Vicksell.

February Improv 101

Not sure if you want to take an improv class? Start here! Our bimonthly Improv 101 class is designed for the student who wants to dip a toe into the wild world of improvised comedy.

Spots are limited, so please do not enroll in multiple dates. If you've participated in the past and had a great time consider enrolling in a class!

Intro to Improv takes place at 4:00pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. The class will be led by a qualified faculty member from the DCC Training Center. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate. Students age 15 and up may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. An RSVP is required

 

February Improv 101

Level 2.5 Stand-Up

Have you taken both Level One and Level Two Stand-Up at DCC, but you miss the experience of pitching jokes and getting feedback on a weekly basis? Chances are you do! This course is designed for students who have completed Level Two and still want instructor feedback. The class will not include lectures or lessons, and will focus entirely on writing jokes to pitch. If you're looking for accountability to keep you writing, or simply miss having a weekly hang with your classmates, you'll love this class!

This class is four weekly sessions running from March 8th to March 29th, 2026. The instructor is TBD.

Level Two Stand-Up

Prerequisite: Level One Stand-Up

You wrote and performed a five minute set in front of a live audience! You rock! Whether you’re doing open mics, booking shows, or even submitting for festivals, it is imperative to have a well developed set that can be delivered with confidence and ease. Students will receive personalized feedback with a focus on stage presence, storytelling, and joke set up. This class focuses on advanced topics including crowd work, hecklers, marketing yourself, and more! Students will emerge from this class feeling confident and ready to take on bigger shows.

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 8th, 2026 to May 3rd, 2026. The instructor is TBD.

Level Four Long Form

$350
Calendar Mar 9, 2026 at 7 pm, runs for 8 weeks

8-Week Course + Final Grad Show
Mondays, 7:00-10:00pm
March 9th – April 27th, 2026

Prerequisite: Level Three Long Form Improv + Accepted Application: SUBMIT HERE.

You’ve learned the rules and tools of improv, so let’s get back to play and put them all together in fun new ways! Level Four Long Form takes the foundation formed in beginner and intermediate levels and builds upon it with fun new forms and structures. Students work toward mastering the Harold as the main form used in the course, which allows performers to give their sets a sitcom-like structure where scenes and beats are revisited to the delight of the audience. Instructor feedback focuses on individualized performance notes designed to call out students’ unique strengths while working to get rid of bad habits. By the end of the class, students become skillful performers who have the skills needed to perform in any show that comes their way!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 9th to April 27th, 2026. The instructor is TBD.
