You’re a funny person, now it’s time to get your funny ideas on paper! In Intro to Sketch, you’ll learn the basics of sketch writing and develop a variety of skills to produce sketches of your own. Each week your instructor will teach you a different style of sketch through lectures, examples, and exercises created to help you master that specific style. Over the course of eight weeks, you will generate premises, write sketches, do table reads, get feedback, and transform into a real comedy writer just like those who write for SNL, Key & Peele, The Iliza Show, and more! You’ll leave class with the beginning of a comedy portfolio you can be proud of!

Are you a sketch comedy writer, actor, or fan who wants to learn more about improv? Are you an improviser who wants to learn more about sketch comedy? Do you love both of these wonderful artforms and want to seamlessly incorporate them together? Whatever category you fall into, the Improv for Sketch workshop is the workshop for you! Learn about how improvisation and sketch are different but very similar. So similar in fact that they compliment each other and can be used to workshop your next sketch or next improv scene, format, etc. Learn about exercises and techniques to blend the two art forms together in order to generate ideas or fine tune existing ideas for a sketch. 8-Week Course + Final Grad Show

January 5th to February 23rd, 2025

Prerequisite: Level 2 Sketch

You’ve written a portfolio of sketches in Intro and Level Two Sketch, now it's time to put them on the stage! Sketch Conservatory is the capstone level of DCC's Sketch track and gives students the tools they need to fully produce their own high-quality sketch shows. Students will receive instruction and mentorship from DCC faculty as they create an original show of their own material created in previous sketch courses. The class explores the different stages of the production process focusing on how artists collaborate to create a cohesive show.

CLASS DATES: SUNDAYS FROM 1-4:00PM, 1/5/25 – 2/23/25

GRAD SHOW: SUNDAY, MARCH 3RD, exact time TBD

8-Week Course
Wednesdays, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
January 8th – February 26th, 2025

You’ve started your sketch packet, now let’s make it stronger! This class is an intermediate sketch writing course that will explore more complex styles of sketch writing. Students will learn how to better craft sketches, pitch their ideas with confidence, and expand their writing portfolio. This class also dives into the editing and rewriting process in more depth than our intro level. By the end of the class students will have a solid body of work that can be submitted for shows at DCC and beyond!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from January 8th to February 26th, 2025. The instructor is TBD. Classes are non-refundable and all sales are final. Students must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate, and must adhere to policies in the Dallas Comedy Club Student Handbook. 

CLASS DATES: WEDNESDAYS FROM 7-10PM, 1/8/25 – 2/26/25
