Dive into the joy of improvisation! Learn the power of “Yes, and…” in a world that loves to focus on “No, but…” Focus on positive choices, discover the truthful and wonderful characters that live inside each of us, and most importantly: learn to trust that YOU are enough. With the most hours offered in the metroplex, this beginner course will give you the strong foundation you need to confidently take the stage at any improv jam in town! By the end of the class, students will be able to perform hilarious 5 minute improvised scenes with their classmates. Be more confident, follow your instincts, and find the fun in every bit of life.

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 9th, 2026 to April 27th, 2026. The instructor is Dan States.

Level One Short Form

Whose line? Your line! In this class you will learn the quick-fire skills needed to take the “Yes, and” into Short Form Improv! You will exercise skills such as listening, justification, and physicality to heighten the healthy competition that Short Form games are all about. This class explores different genres of Short Form games and the underlying concepts that make them successful and fun for performers and audiences alike. Over the course of eight weeks you will form a team with your classmates. The class culminates with a final grad performance in which you will delight your family and friends with your newfound skills!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 9th to April 27th, 2026. The instructor is Josh Edwards.

Prerequisite: Level One Long Form Improv

You did it! You finished level one and now it’s time to keep up the momentum of your Improv journey! In Level Two, you’ll focus on editing your own scenes by ‘following the foot’ connected to your gut and heart to edit scenes at the height of their hilarity. Learn all about the concepts of ‘game’ and how to heighten and tighten a scene organically and confidently. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover peas in a pod vs voice of reason dynamics within your scene work and even begin the process of extracting inspiration and ideas from personal anecdotes. Don’t delay, say “Yes and!” to following the fun now!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 10th to April 28th 2026. The instructor is Sarah Wyatt.

Prerequisite: Level One and Two Long Form Improv + instructor approval

Continue your improv journey as we focus on strong listening and reacting without interrupting our scene partners. Being sure that the beginning of your sentence doesn’t interrupt the middle of theirs, you will dive into the world of slowing down- truly hearing the gifts given to us by our teammates, and learning exactly how to play those gifts at the height of your intelligence. Work on first and second beats and group games, while also doubling down on how to pull inspiration from personal stories. Make yourself and your scene partner look like a genius!

March Improv 101

Not sure if you want to take an improv class? Start here! Our bimonthly Improv 101 class is designed for the student who wants to dip a toe into the wild world of improvised comedy.

Spots are limited, so please do not enroll in multiple dates. If you've participated in the past and had a great time consider enrolling in a class!

Intro to Improv takes place at 4:00pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. The class will be led by a qualified faculty member from the DCC Training Center. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate. Students age 15 and up may attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. An RSVP is required. 

 

Level Four Long Form

Prerequisite: Level Three Long Form Improv + Accepted Application: SUBMIT HERE.

You’ve learned the rules and tools of improv, so let’s get back to play and put them all together in fun new ways! Level Four Long Form takes the foundation formed in beginner and intermediate levels and builds upon it with fun new forms and structures. Students work toward mastering the Harold as the main form used in the course, which allows performers to give their sets a sitcom-like structure where scenes and beats are revisited to the delight of the audience. Instructor feedback focuses on individualized performance notes designed to call out students’ unique strengths while working to get rid of bad habits. By the end of the class, students become skillful performers who have the skills needed to perform in any show that comes their way!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 16th to May 4th, 2026. The instructor is Lauren Oxford.

You’ve got a solid understanding Long Form Improv. You discovered your strengths and weaknesses with personalized feedback in previous classes. It's time to learn to be a team! This advanced study class focuses on what it takes to be a truly great team. Working with your instructor and new teammates, you’ll receive feedback on how to connect as a group onstage and better support each other's choices in scenes. Class includes four public performances during class time so that students receive optimized instruction on performance quality and stagecraft. By the end of this class you will be a seasoned performer and a member of the DCC alumni community!

This class is eight weekly sessions running from March 22nd to May 17th, 2026. The class will not meet on Sunday, April 5th for the Easter Holiday. The instructor is TBD.

All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable. All students must adhere to policies in the Dallas Comedy Club Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate.
