The Business of Stand-Up

The Business of Stand-Up Workshop is designed to equip aspiring comedians with the tools to navigate the professional side of comedy. Participants will learn the essentials of the standup business, beginning with "Comedy as a Business" and a simplified guide to becoming a working comedian. Additionally, the session provides a step-by-step guide to securing bookings in a competitive industry. You'll learn about the roles of agents and managers, and strategies to build a loyal following in the standup scene. The realities of making a living from comedy, including the ups and downs, are also discussed, along with tips for managing nerves and staying focused. The session concludes with professional codes for comedy business success and some actionable homework to help kickstart your career.

Are you improv-curious? This improv sampler platter will whet your appetite! Explore the core concepts of improvisation, learn the difference between long form and short form, and have a ton of fun in the process!

Storytelling for Business

Join our introductory workshop to discover how storytelling can transform your business communication. Learn to share ideas, build connections, and captivate your audience with engaging stories that inspire and stick.

Acting for Sketch

4-Week Course + Final Grad Show

Become a master of comedic timing in our Acting for Sketch course! Over the course of four weeks you will learn how to use basic acting techniques in comedic works. Learn how to read sides to pick out the funniest moments and make them playable.
This class is four weekly sessions running from January 4th to January 25, 2026. The instructor is Avery Baker. The T.A. is Liz Honigmann.

Comedy for Mental Health

Do you tend to crack jokes when stressed? Or maybe you're a performer who suffers from intense stage fright! Let's be real: Most of us could use a good mental health check-in. Whether you're an established performer or brand new to comedy, this class will focus on the way we can use elements of comedy performance to help our overall mental wellbeing.
This class is a collaboration between Dallas Comedy Club and A Sisters Legacy. It incorporates exercises and techniques from DCC's regular core classes and approaches these concepts through a therapeutic lens. This curriculum was developed by Claire Daigle (DCC Director of Education) and Karen Carillo, LCSW-S.
This class is eight weekly sessions running from January 4th to February 22nd, 2026. The co-instructors are Claire Daigle and Karen Carrillo, LCSW-S.
